Penick Village
for retirement living

I'm Not Ready Yet
Are you ready to plan for your future? “I’m not ready yet” could be what you are thinking. Most of us have taken steps throughout our life to plan for the future. We plan our education, we plan our careers, we plan our families, we plan our finances, we plan to send our
children to college, we plan our retirement, but are we ready to move to a continuing care retirement community? Sound familiar. Just what is that you are not ready for? Are you
saying that you are not ready to give up yard work, housekeeping, cooking and home
maintenance? Most importantly, you are not ready for someone to provide medical services in our personal care or skilled nursing center, if needed.
You are not alone in your feelings. A lot of people focus their decision to move to a CCRC on immediate medical issues. At this point your decision is based on need. However by taking this approach you are eliminating your ability to plan. This also is taking the control and responsibility away from you and putting it on your family or others. Don’t make this mistake. At this point it may be too late. Due to pre-existing conditions, many communities might not accept the applicant for independent living and may not have the space in assisted living or nursing care. Furthermore, many communities, Penick Village among them, operate from a “Waiting List” or “Priority List” and when you think you might be ready, the community might not have immediate availability.
Now is the time to join the Penick Woodlands Priority List, so you can plan to be ready. I have been in this wonderful profession since 1988, and I would ask each of you to ask yourself a couple of questions.
If you do not know the answers to these and other important questions, please call or visit us at Penick Village. We may very well have the answers that you are looking for!
You will be glad you did. Please call me.

- When will I be ready to make my life easier, less stressful?
- Where do I go if my health starts to fail and I require a higher level of care?
- Will the community have the capability of providing for all of my needs, now and in the future?
