Deinstitutionalization of the Aging Experience
As our vision states, we have an uncompromising commitment to deinstitutionalizing the aging experience. What does this mean? In its simplest terms, we believe that a retirement community is your home and home is where the heart is.
We believe that residents should continue to have the all the opportunities - if not more - that they did prior to moving to here. Deinstitutionalization means truly knowing people, being able to anticipate their needs and wants, no matter their cognitive, physical, and emotional abilities.
Our philosophy is pretty simple. If you don’t have it in your home, it shouldn’t be at Penick Village. All of our programs and services take this philosophy. At every step along the way, we ask ourselves if something is an institutionalized practice or not. If it is, we find a new way to accomplish the same goal.
