Piano Recital at Penick Village Tomorrow

Caroline, Catherine, and Sarah Cox will present a piano recital featuring pieces from their New York City Steinway Hall performances at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Penick Village. The recital is being given in memory of Glenn Brillhart.

The sisters are students of Ruth Sinclair of Aberdeen.

"The public is welcome to attend this free concert," says a spokesman.

Last summer, the Cox sisters traveled to Serignan, France, with their 8-year-old sister, Charlotte, to participate in the Yves Nat International Music Festival.

Dr. Reid Smith of Minneapolis, Minn., and a former organist at Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church invited the sisters to participate based on a taped audition. During the festival, the sisters participated in master classes given by international music faculty, including Oxana Yablonskaya and Joanna Chao of Juilliard and Yuri Kim of Maness School of Music in New York, the pianist for the empress of Japan.

The invitation to perform at Steinway Hall was a result of their performances at the festival.

"The festival was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will provide lifelong memories," says their mother, Valerie Cox.

The girls are dedicating their recital to the memory of Glenn Brillhart, former Penick Village resident and longtime supporter of the arts and, in particular, of young musicians.

"Mr. Brillhart was always present at the sisters' performances at Penick with a kind and encouraging word," says their mother.
